About

Madeleine Hayman

BSc (Hons), MRes, PgDip, MBACP

For almost a decade, I was a childminder while in the United States. Although my role childcare-focused, I became a soundboard and confidants to parents, single mums, and the children in my care. I was greatly honoured by their trust in me and profoundly changed my outlook on life. By nature, I am a keen listener and open minded, but this experience highlighted how powerful having a non-judgment environment can be, thus started my journey to becoming a therapist.

But when I am not only a therapist - I am a scientist, researcher, animal lover and more. I find peace when I am in nature or near rivers and beaches. I believe that food, and sharing meals with others, offers a connection that is priceless. I value the use of humour as a form of self-expression and relief. When appropriate, I sometimes use humour in the therapy space, and knowing when is the right time is key but it is a part of who I am as a practitioner.

I provide a holistic approach to mental health through personalised therapy that highlights the mind-body connection and identity. My main goal is to help explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe space that values open communication. My practice is based in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), I also use mindfulness and have an interest in body-awareness which has been useful for many clients. CBT is an evidences-based model of therapy where tools have been researched and validated by experts in the field.

I often work with clients who have lost touch with the things that once mattered to them, helping them gain confidence in life, work, relationships, and their bodies. With this many of my clients have felt stuck or have had traumatic experiences they wish to move forward from.

My client-centred approach welcomes all people. I am a LGBTQ+ safe space, use anti-oppressive practices, and incorporate cultural competence in my approach.

I am big believer of dealing with things that trouble us before they get bad, therefore I work with difficulties no matter how small. It is all important. I’m here to support you. Finding the right therapist is essential— I wish you the best of luck in finding the therapist for you.
